LabelproofTerms of Use
These terms apply to your use of the Labelproof app (“Labelproof”, “the app”, “we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. Labelproof is a reading aid, not medical advice
Labelproof helps you read ingredient lists. It does not replace your own judgement, a doctor or allergist, or the information printed on the product.
- Always read the physical package before you eat or serve anything. Recipes change, and labels differ between countries, batches and pack sizes.
- Product data comes partly from Open Food Facts, a public database edited by volunteers. It can be incomplete, out of date or wrong.
- Reading text from photos can make mistakes, especially with poor light, curved packs or small print.
- Our ingredient dictionary can't know every name, spelling or language for an allergen. A “Safe” result means only that nothing on your lists was found in the text we had. It does not mean the product is safe for you.
- “May contain” and cross-contact warnings are not always printed, and Labelproof can't detect cross-contact that isn't declared.
- Menu checks are never marked safe. Always ask restaurant staff.
- AI explanations and dish guesses are generated automatically, may be wrong, and never change a verdict.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number and follow your doctor's action plan. Don't use the app to decide whether to treat a reaction.
2. Using the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Labelproof on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. You agree not to:
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it;
- scrape, overload or interfere with our servers, or use them for anything other than the app's normal use;
- use the app in a way that breaks the law.
If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
3. Free use, subscriptions and lifetime purchase
You can try a limited number of scans for free. Labelproof Pro unlocks unlimited scans and Pro features, and is offered as:
- Annual subscription: US $39.99 per year (or the local equivalent shown in the app), with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
- Lifetime: a single US $59.99 payment (or local equivalent) for Pro on your store account, with no renewals.
Prices shown in the app before you buy are the ones that apply, and they may vary by country and change over time.
Auto-renewal. The annual subscription is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase or, if you start a free trial, when the trial ends. It renews automatically each year at the then-current price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
Free trial. If you cancel during the trial, you won't be charged. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We can't issue refunds for store purchases ourselves.
Restoring purchases. Use “Restore purchases” in the app to restore Pro on a new device signed in to the same store account.
4. Your data
Your profiles, scans and diary are stored on your device. See our Privacy Policy for how the app handles information. You are responsible for your device's backups. If you delete the app or lose your device without a backup, we can't recover your data.
5. Third-party content and services
The app shows product data from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License, and public recall notices from food-safety agencies. AI features use DeepSeek, and purchases use Apple, Google and RevenueCat. We don't control these services and aren't responsible for their content or availability.
6. Changes and availability
We may update the app, add or remove features, or change these terms. If a change to these terms is significant, we'll let you know in the app or on this page before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated terms. Online features need an internet connection and may sometimes be unavailable.
7. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes, without limitation, any warranty that verdicts, product data, recall alerts or AI explanations are accurate, complete or current, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from relying on the app's results instead of reading the product label or getting medical advice. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Apple-specific terms
If you downloaded Labelproof from the Apple App Store:
- these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
- if the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app;
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer-protection claims, or claims that the app infringes someone else's intellectual property;
- you confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Where these terms don't cover something, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend access to our online services if you break these terms. Sections 1, 7, 8 and 9 continue to apply after these terms end.
